There's
a decided difference,
From
the old days and the new,
We
used to discipline our children,
But
now few parents ever do.

There
used to be a firm line,
Between
what's right and what's wrong,
The
Parson preached fire and brimstone,
And
we sang sacred hymns, not songs.

Our
parents set the rules,
And
the children followed through,
There
were lots of fun and games,
But
disruptions were few.

We
treated others with respect,
We
helped our neighbors, too.
There
weren't any instant answers,
But
our trust in each other grew.

Now
everyone's in a big hurry,
God is no longer
number ONE!
We
bow down to our children,
Instead
of God's Holy Son.

I
ponder the future,
As
I hear a new baby cry,
Will
we obey God's pure love,
Or
continue to live a lie?

The
Bible says, "Bring up a child,
In
the way he should go."
But
we have disobeyed His Word,
And
our expectations are low.

Listen,
my firends, to His Holy Word,
Teach
it firmly and clear.
And
we have God's promise,
That
we have nothing to fear.
