Shadows of grief will now haunt me

Young lives are gone from this world

Lost in a desert of foggy sand

By a grenade hatefully hurled

Bodies so brave and so eager

Will fall damaged and cold in the sand

For them there is no tomorrow

No future - no dream - that they planned

The numbers will grow , I am certain

Though I pray that soon this will end

As courage and plan work together

And honor - they fight to defend

Sights and sounds are now stealing

The glimmer of youth in young eyes

As bullets and missiles go raining

Destruction - and pain - from the skies

God help them, defend them, prepare them

Deliver them and this land

Shield and protect and give courage

In mercy, and by Your loving hand.
