I want to share
something I learned from long ago hoping it
will help someone now. My mother was ill much
of the time in my childhood. I practically
grew up in hospitals. God taught me to look
beyond the "tubes and wires" and start saying
thank you, Lord for every device, procedure,
medication and medical expert. Many years
ago many died, because there were no such
medical helps available. Now, many lives are
saved thanks to all those tubes, wires and
medical knowledge the Lord has given through
discoveries in the field of medicine.
I know how it
looks to you, for I have felt that in the
past. Tubes and wires belong on machines and
invented things, not on a living, breathing
human being. One sometimes wishes he could
just take all that away, but the tubes and
wires carry life in them and are essential
to sustain life many times. God does many
miracles in a twinkling of an eye, but many
He does through the professions and inventions
He has allowed scientists to discover. We
must always thank Him for life, whether it
is in the body itself, or being sustained
by tubes, wires and machines till that one
can survive once more on their own.

So, when you
see your loved one, begin thanking God for
all the many people who have worked countless
hours before finding breakthroughs by the
inventions of many of the machines and discoveries
of medicines. Thank Him that life is being
sustained through one of His "slower miracles".
... It is quite a battle with an inventor
or scientist so anxious to get a new drug
or machine to those in need and with the FDA's
standards to protect people from quackery
having to be met. It is a hard task to get
even the simplest of things approved for use
on human beings. In addition to the untold
hours in experimenting and tweaking of a product,
there are the hours spent knowing they have
something that can save lives and waiting
for a stamp of approval to make it legal and
available The stresses and tensions are great
If you will consider
all of these things, it will help you as it
has helped me to actually be joyful to see
all the things they can do for my loved one
that I cannot do. Hospitals are cold and uninviting
places to many people, but I am here to proclaim
that they are warm, inviting places to those
who need them to stay alive. This is not to
say that they are perfect, nor that everyone
who works there is perfect, but more times
than not, they are comforting in the help
they give to folks who are in desperate need.

When you are
struggling with all you see happening to your
loved one and when you are praying and doing
all you can, that is when stress and worry
can try to take over. It is hard to do, but
try to put all of it in the Lord's hands.
Ask Him to return to you all that you can
handle with guidance on how to do things.
Remember two things: If the Lord intends for
you to be the one to do something, He will
provide a way for you to do it. And, when
you have done all you can do and want to do
more, then you have done all you can do. May
the Lord, our Mighty God give you peace and
sustain you in your struggles.
