A 'Getting to Know Them Theme Page'

This is a 'Thank You to the Writers Page' - Dedicated to those gracious persons who so generously contribute their work to this online ministry. I had originally begun making separate pages for the writers and the artists who create graphics for me,but now, for convenience and since the list is growing, I'm combining several writer's short bios here on this page. I do hope you'll read about them and if you feel led to do so, contact them to let them know their poems have been a blessing to you. I know it encourages them and they love to hear from those who are reading their poems and viewing their art work. I love these precious sisters in the Lord and I want to let the world know how very important they are to my ministry and my life!

Getting to Know Eva May Young

I asked Eva to write a little about herself. I know that's sometimes hard to do. It seems to be much easier to write about oneself. But what Eva wrote was so much of who she really is. She has a great love for the Lord as is evident in her writing. She's such a good example of a godly Christian woman who in spite of her loss came through with victory in Jesus! And she shares a lot of that sunshine with us in her writing. She has the experience of years and godly wisdom. Eva is a gentle person and a woman filled with such gratitude for eternal life! I've grown to appreciate her very much! Please welcome her to our ministry team!

Love in Jesus,
Genelle

A Word from Eva

Who am I, Lord? I am nobody except in Christ. I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. I was a wife for 51 years, and then my husband went to be with the Lord. That was 13 years ago and I still miss him...He was quiet, good man.

Every day my Savior leads me...and every day I fail Him somewhere, somehow. But He forgives and pours out His blessings upon me. He plants seeds of love, , and patience, and forgiveness, deep within this heart of mine...He has taught me to smile through my tears!

A few years ago I was recovering from a debilitating surgery...and living alone became almost a pressure I couldn't bear...I begged God to take me home... As I struggled to get from the bedroom into the kitchen I heard a gentle whisper ..."Up above these dark clouds the sun is still shining!" What a revelation! I had never thought about that before...Now when I have a bad day I repeat what God told me that day. He provides all my needs and so much more. His miraculous healing power flows through my body, soul, and spirit...healing, cleansing, making me whole again. Every day brings new spiritual gifts when He joins me early in the day to lead and guide me.

I just have to learn to stop struggling, stop trying to do it on my own, and lean on this holy friend who took my sins to the cross and nailed them there...He suffered untold agony for me and for all who would believe! Who am I? I am a child of God! He saw me before I was born, as I was being knit together in my mother's womb. Everyday of my life was written in His book. Psalm 139

Getting to Know Gayle Alatia

First, I'd like to say that in getting to know Gayle myself, I've come to appreciate her sweetness of spirit. She's always so positive and uplifting. And so humble and precious in her attitude. She truly loves others and wants to help people see the beautiful things of life and know the Lord! She has a tender heart and I thank her from the bottom of my heart for sharing her gift of poetry with me. Her contribution to my site is a blessing to me, and I know it's been a blessing to my visitors. She's my sister in the Lord and I recommend her writing to anyone who wants to read words written from the heart! Gayle always finds time to write to me regularly. She's become like so many others, dear to me, and I know she holds a place in so many others' hearts as well!

I asked Gayle to write something for me so I could include here on this little thank you page. I try to do that for frequent contributors to my online ministry to show my appreciation. I hope you'll join with me in welcoming Gayle as a team member in my ministry.

Love in Jesus,
Genelle

A Word From Gayle

A little bit about myself as requested by Genelle, who so graciously asked for a poem for her site. I really don't know where to start except by saying that most of the things you may have seen on the net were originally little songs. When my son was alive, I'd get an idea, call him and together, we would make up a little melody to it. After his passing in 1993, I didn't write much for awhile.

But the Lord has not left me, and recently, I began to write a little again. I write what I feel the Lord wants me to say - I had asked Him to let me help in being a soul winner if it was His Will. So in my own way, maybe this is how I might be able to get His word out.

John 3:16 is my favorite Bible verse - it's His plan for our salvation. The words are so simple that often we fall all over it not really taking to heart its meaning. I'm thankful he heard my plea and saved me because that night, those words became so vivid to me back in 1969, in a little church in Tennessee where I was living at the time. What a wonderful night that was! Praise His name for his grace.

I am married (second time around) and have a beautiful Christian daughter and a wonderful step son. I have two wonderful grandchildren from my daughter, Kyle and Keli.

I was born and raised in Virginia, my home state, but now live in south Florida with my husband. I am now retired and enjoy my email friends on the net in my spare time.

I love art and music, particularly good gospel music. I feel music gets to the soul of people and I can get lost in listening to the words and music of a good gospel song. It just renews my spirit so much.

Well, I can't think of anything else to tell you - so I hope this will let you know a little about me. I pray God's blessings be with you all.

Love & blessings,
Gayle

Getting to Know Andrea

I met Andrea online and we've developed a wonderful relationship in the Lord. She has an online ministry website and features poetry, much of it written herself. She's been so gracious to feature several of my Gospel songs on many of her pages. She goes out of her way to share my website ministry with others! She's been a help to me in every way possible and my heart blesses her for all her efforts. She has such a sweet spirit, always seeing the best in a person and she's so accepting of people.

I always know that no matter what I'm going through, Andrea is there with a prayer and encouragement, sharing so many things in common with me.

Andrea has gone through many hardships, with illnesses in her family, almost losing her husband, but he's one of those miracles of God's mercy and grace! She's shoulders a great many responsibilities and she's an example of the strength and love of a godly woman. Andrea has become a true sister in the Lord to me!

Love in Jesus,
Genelle

A Word from Andrea

My Online Website name is Kentucky_Lady4, and I live in the NE section of the state, where the forests are thick, and the little critters are in abundance.. I was born here, and remained here for 18 years until I got married, then lived in Illinois, (a bit out of Chicago) for a little over 30 years, and moved back to help aid my parents.

This past March, Dad entered Heaven. Mom is still with us, and we thank God each day He will allow her to stay here.

I became a born again Christian at the age of 13, and joined in the family of God. I did sway away for a short period, but He waited on my return and was so patient with me.

I have 4 wonderful children and 6 lovely grandchildren!! Each one is a blessing God has given to me. One of my children is still at home, so that keeps any possibility of boredom down. Between church activities, band practice, chorus and so many events, she stays very busy.

I pray that my site will be a comfort for those in need, be an inspriration to others, and that all who will venture here will feel love, and enjoy their visit. I love the Lord and enjoy sharing all I can with others. I do hope you will visit my site, and share with others. God bless each that visit! Spreading the Gospel is top priority in these days!! I do not feel the earth will be around much longer, and being born again and accepting Christ as your personal Savior is a must to enter Heaven!!

Getting to Know Janet LaPointe

I became acquainted with Janet on the internet while searching for inspirational, dynamic graphics for my patriotic section. Since then, we've corresponded and I've come to know the depth of her love of others and of the Lord and her committment to Him in using her gift for His glory. She is so very sincere in her desire to serve and worship God by ministering to the world. I gladly welcome her to our ministry team!

Janet has painted since the age of 8, winning contests and later attending the School of Worchester Art Museum. Janic's husband fulfilled a dream when he built her a studio by adding a third floor to their home, and "The Upper Room Studio" was born! She had always painted the beauty of God's creation, but in 1966 she began painting scenes that God had inspired her with visions. Janet now paints not only with that desire artist have to visually render an image, but she has a deep hunger to know and worship the "Living God" not only through her life, but through all her artistic talents. Janet's prophetic paintings are inspired by the Holy Spirit of God through both visions and dreams. In Revelation 19:10, John writes "Worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." As music, song and dance are all glorious forms of worship, so too is painting and drawing.  All forms of worship are a sweet smelling fragrance unto the Lord.

Love in Jesus,
Genelle

A Word From Janet

"My God is a God of color and light. When I paint, I use color boldly to evoke emotions within the viewer in order to get their attention. I believe God has given me a message to carry to a lost and dying world. It is a message of hope, love, and of most of all, of life eternal. What I paint is what I see by the Spirit. When others see the paintings, my wish is that they will come to understand God's great love for man. I also paint to show the Lord's victory over the forces of darkness.

I feel that all my paintings minister to the basic tenet of faith of all who believe: 'For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son...so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.' My artistic expressions are to show others that there is a purpose for their being placed here in this world; and in their living He has always been there and will continue to be there leading them and guiding them - they just need to be willing to receive it. When things look the darkest for them, I want them to know that they are indeed in the grip of God."

Getting to Know Marcee Ekstrum

I am a farm girl, born and raised in South Dakota. I love the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the wide open spaces, and the caring people who live here. I am single; Jesus Christ is the love of my life. This fall, I attended a singles retreat and was in a marriage ceremony. The speaker led 115 singles in marriage vows as the brides of Christ. We recieved spiritual gifts, then went to a reception, complete with a toast to our Groom, a real wedding cake and dancing. It was the most blessed event I had ever been a part of!

My life was dramatically changed in May, 1999, when I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I was going through a difficult time in my life and could not sleep. The Christian counselor, who I was seeing, encouraged me to listen to the Christian radio station overnight. I started doing that, but kept it low so it would not disturb my sleep. Well, the night my life was changed, the radio was keeping me awake. The announcer was talking about salvation and the importance of inviting Jesus into your heart. The song, "I Offer My Life," by Women of Faith began to play, loud and clear. That song was so powerful for me that I started sobbing. I told the Lord that I had made a mess of my life and didn't want to live that way anymore. I confessed my sins and invited Him into my heart. I instantly felt a peace, which was indescribable. It was like all the junk that I had been dealing with in my life was suddenly washed away. I felt so light and free.

Since the night I was saved, the Lord has given me many blessings. One is a singing voice with a range between tenor and second soprano. In gratitude, I use my voice to praise God. I am in the choir at my church, sing solos, and sing in community choirs. Last year, I shared my testimony at church and sang the song that changed my life. Many people came up to me afterwards with tears in their eyes and told me how they had been touched by what I said and sang. I didn't know many of those people, but it was neat to see how God used me to reach into the hearts of others by sharing what He has done in my life.

Other blessings from the Lord include intercessory prayer and fasting. I spend a lot of time praying for family, friends, people at church, and people on Internet prayer forums. I fast once a week.

In June, God set me free from an addiction, which I had struggled with for nearly 18 years. It happened at a church I was visiting, and communion was being served. The leader said that we needed to lay down anything that was coming between us and God before we could partake of the Lord's Supper. I prayed, and this addiction surfaced for me. I confessed it and heard and felt the chains fall at my feet! Praise God! I spent that entire worship service crying because I was so grateful that God had knocked down my prison walls.

"Caring For the Christ Child" is a piece I wrote, based on a dream I had and what I felt the Lord placed on my heart in regards to that dream. I have a degree in Journalism and English, and have written for a few newspapers. I also have had some of my poetry and short stories printed in national publications. After two years of dormancy, I am reawakening my creative writing skills. I intend to share more of my writings. I pray that my piece will bring you blessings and joy. Thank you for letting me share it, and thank you for letting me share my life in Christ with you.

Love in Christ,
Marcee

Getting to Know Naomi Jean Silveria

I was born in 1930 to a wonderful family. I was the last of twelve children, ten girls and two boys. Dad was a Southern Baptist minister and hardly ever home. He rode horseback around Arkansas establishing little churches where needed. Mother was a wonderful mother, so patient and kind.We were as poor as all the rest of the people, but so happy. We always had an organ to sing by and several of the older ones played guitars. I graduated from school in 1947 and married soon after and came to California. We had three chldren soon afterwards but alas the marriage did not work out.He disappeared.I went to work and supported the children from then on. It was a hard life and I drifted away from the Lord. In

1981 I experienced the greatest joy of my life. God spoke to me as I was walking my dog and told me it was time to come back into the fold. I really did not want to, but no matter what I did nothing was any fun anymore. I started searching out every church in the city where I lived and God led me to the one He wanted me in. I could not wait to read the bible every spare moment I could find and have never stopped reading it nor ever looked back.

It has been a great, wonderful trip and joy beyond any thing I could ever dream of. There has been much sorrow and grief but with God to hold onto I have been able to be healed of those pains. Now I am involved in taking care of my best friend that has lung cancer, and befriended a sweet lady I met at the clinic where I take my friend. I also have a class from Genesis each Saturday here in my home.It is a wonderful class.I attend a very devoted prayer group one day a month in different homes.

The frosting on the whole thing is the little sweet children I teach in Sunday school each Sunday. After experiencing being around those suffering from cancer all week it is a joy to be with those darling children in the first and second grades.

I started writing poetry years ago. I never bothered to show it to anyone as it was whatver God laid on my heart. It eased the pain of seeing my husband so very ill and helped me through the time of his death on Good Friday of this year. Keeping busy serving the Lord, now that I have more time, has also drawn me closer to Him.

Love,
Jean
